The senior has suffered a stroke, resulting in partial paralysis of the left side of his body. Movement is possible with support for short distances (using a cane or assistance), and a wheelchair is required for longer distances. The caregiver provides assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, and possibly incontinence care. Small tasks such as brushing teeth, shaving, or using the toilet are performed by the gentleman himself. Medication intake and hydration are also monitored. Twice a week, accompaniment is needed for physiotherapy and to the day care center, where the gentleman is picked up and transported. In addition to basic care, household management is expected, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
