A patient and experienced caregiver is sought for an 88-year-old senior living in the city of Köln, Mülheim district (Postal Code 51069). The senior (65 kg, 160 cm) has suffered a stroke and has only 1 % of her visual capacity, making her practically blind. She moves independently around the house with a cane and uses a walker outside. It is very important that household items remain in their place, as she navigates by memory. The senior is independent in dressing and using the toilet, requiring only partial assistance with personal hygiene – a service helps her with showering once a week. On other days, she manages her regular hygiene herself. The caregiver's duties will include assisting with household management, cooking, shopping, and maintaining order. Shops are accessible on foot (three supermarkets within 1 km), and a bicycle is available. The caregiver should provide companionship and engage in conversations with the senior, as she enjoys communicating and is independent despite her visual impairment. No night work or lifting is required. The senior lives alone in a family house with a small garden and terrace. A private living space is prepared for the caregiver in the basement – a room with a private bathroom, window to a light well, Wi-Fi connection, and TV. Time off is negotiable, with afternoons free for the caregiver, as the senior can remain alone for some time.

For families in Switzerland, due to high demand, the wait may extend to two months.

Of course, you can also choose another transportation method that you prefer. The caregiver pays for the journey themselves, with the family in Germany contributing €150-200 towards it, and in Switzerland 380 CHF.
In Germany, the standard length of a work period is 4 to 6 weeks, while in Switzerland it's 2 months. In the case of temporary replacements, the periods are shorter.
The salary range in Germany is between €1200 and €2200 per month on a trade license. Compensation depends on the required language and other skills, the client's health condition, and whether care is provided for an individual or a married couple. In Switzerland, the salary ranges from 2460 to 2500 CHF per month on a Swiss employment contract.
In Germany, an intermediate to good knowledge of German is most commonly required, while some families are satisfied with basic knowledge and/or require knowledge of another language, such as Czech or Russian. Families in Switzerland require good knowledge of German, though sometimes an upper-intermediate level is sufficient.
